Responsible for the overall culinary operation including staff, menu design and implementation, quality product procurement and diner satisfaction is Executive Chef Ron W. Baker.
Among Ron's professional highlights are chef positions in California-based eateries such as Pascal's (Newport Beach), Fleur de Vin (Pasadena) and Patina in Hollywood. Prior to moving to the Portland area, there was a four-year stint as Chef/Co-owner of Rondezvous Restaurant in Idaho Falls, ID. The catering service he developed there attracted widespread and local support; he was actively involved in the community.
For eight years, Ron was the Executive Chef of Portland's Food in Bloom Catering and prior to joining the H5O culinary team, he also served as sous chef and executive chef respectively at Red Star Tavern, Oregon Club and Devil's Food Catering.
A native of Christchurch, New Zealand and now residing in Portland's Piedmont neighborhood, Ron is married and has an 18-year old son. When not working at H5O, he enjoys yoga, hiking, gardening and traveling with his family and fishing with his son. Ron is also an avid game player. Among his favorites are Yatzee, Bananagrams, Scrabble and Soduku.
